Cash Converters International Ltd has strengthened its Australian retail network with the acquisition of 14 franchise stores across New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria, reinforcing its strategic push into densely populated eastern seaboard markets. The acquisitions, completed between May and August 2025, were fully funded in cash at a blended multiple of 4.3× EBITDA and are immediately earnings-accretive, marking a significant step in the company’s Australian franchise expansion strategy.
In May, the company purchased three stores in NSW and QLD for A$1.49 million, followed in June by five stores in QLD and VIC for A$4.1 million. The most recent transaction, announced in August, is a binding agreement for six stores in NSW valued at approximately A$10.3 million, expanding the Cash Converters franchise network in key growth regions.
CEO Sam Budiselik said the purchases consolidate a strategic corridor of corporate-owned stores along Australia’s most populous regions, improving customer reach and network efficiency. “These acquisitions reflect our strategy to acquire high-performing franchise locations to deliver sustainable growth and stronger corporate store earnings,” he said.
The latest deals bring the company’s Australian network to 92 corporate stores and 61 franchise stores. Internationally, Cash Converters operates 58 corporate stores and 135 franchise stores in the UK. Since 2021, the company has acquired 96 franchise stores across Australia, the UK, and New Zealand, underscoring its position as a leader in the second-hand goods retail and consumer finance sectors.
Shares in Cash Converters rose 6.1% to A$0.35 following the announcement, the largest single-day gain since May, with the stock up 43% year-to-date. The expansion supports the company’s broader transformation strategy, which includes shifting from high-risk small loans toward longer-term, lower-cost lending products supported by AI-driven credit models, aimed at improving lending quality and driving sustainable earnings growth.
