How the Franchise Started?

Chargrill Charlie’s was founded in 1989 by the Sher family, with its first store in Coogee, New South Wales.

Over the years, it expanded mostly in Sydney and more recently into Melbourne. Prior to 2023, they had around 19 stores across Sydney and Melbourne.

In May 2023, Chargrill Charlie’s was acquired by Craveable Brands (owner of Red Rooster, Oporto, Chicken Treat), part of PAG Asia Capital.

The acquisition is seen as positioning it for more expansion beyond its traditional markets.
