Zarraffa's

Zarraffa’s Coffee, one of Australia’s leading specialty coffee franchises, continues rapid national expansion in 2025. Founded in Queensland in 1996, the brand now operates over 80 stores across Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, and — most recently — South Australia. With plans to exceed 200 stores by the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, Zarraffa’s reflects the strength and resilience of the Australian coffee franchise market.

Expansion Into South Australia and Regional Growth

In 2025, Zarraffa’s made a bold move into South Australia, acquiring local chain First Things First Coffee and converting its four drive-thru stores across Adelaide. The flagship Munno Para location marks a major milestone in Zarraffa’s interstate expansion — blending premium coffee with convenience.

Growth continues in regional Queensland too, where the franchise recently unveiled its third Rockhampton outlet — a next-generation store featuring hybrid café and drive-thru service.

In addition, the new Karawatha drive-thru reflects evolving consumer preferences for faster, more flexible service options.

Financials and Franchise Profitability

Zarraffa’s Coffee has demonstrated steady growth, with estimated revenue rising from around AUD 110 million in 2020 to approximately AUD 155 million in 2025, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 6%. This upward trend reflects increasing consumer demand, the strong performance of its drive-thru coffee model—now accounting for roughly 70% of total sales—and operational efficiencies gained through its $20 million headquarters and state-of-the-art roastery in Eagleby, Queensland.

Zarraffa’s franchisees typically achieve net profit margins between 10–20%, supported by comprehensive training programs, ethical coffee sourcing, and proven franchise management systems designed for scalability and sustainability.

Franchisee Bill Zavos, who operates several stores including the flagship Munno Para location, emphasizes the brand’s community focus and the excitement surrounding Zarraffa’s continued national expansion.

Looking Ahead

CEO Marnie Sheldon notes that the company’s 2025 strategy centers on growth, community engagement, and operational excellence. As the franchise expands nationally, Zarraffa’s Coffee is positioning itself as one of Australia’s top franchise opportunities within the booming quick-service coffee industry.
