Nando’s has opened its first official drive-thru restaurant in Australia, located in Roxburgh Park, Melbourne, marking a major milestone in its 35-year history. The outlet combines a convenient drive-thru with a dine-in space to meet changing customer needs. On its opening day, June 10, 2025, Nando’s celebrated by giving away 2,000 free meals to customers.
The Roxburgh Park location reflects Nando’s unique heritage with South African artwork, Afro-Luso music, a sauce station, and bottomless drinks, offering a fresh dining experience. This new drive-thru model is part of Nando’s plan to open 70 restaurants by 2030 across Australia and New Zealand, including 25 stores within three years, creating about 1,000 new jobs.
Investing in a Nando’s franchise in Australia requires an initial outlay of approximately AUD 643,000 to AUD 1 million, covering setup and training, supported by the brand’s strong marketing and operational support. The drive-thru format aligns well with the fast-growing quick service restaurant (QSR) market, where fast, convenient service drives significant revenue, helping Nando’s compete with leading chicken franchises and other QSR brands.
This expansion positions Nando’s to serve fast, flavorful meals in a convenient setting, strengthening its place in Australia’s competitive QSR landscape and chicken franchise sector.
