El Jannah

The only thing stronger than our garlic sauce? Owning the brand.

About the Franchise

El Jannah specializes in Lebanese-style charcoal chicken, paired with its famed garlic sauce, complemented by wraps, burgers, salads, and Middle Eastern sides like tabouli and falafel—true to traditional Lebanese roots.

As of August 2025, the chain operates 47 restaurants across Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Wollongong, and the Southern Highlands.

Franchise partnerships require an investment approximately between AUD 1,000,000 to AUD 1,800,000 depending on store format and size. It also includes upfront costs, training, and ongoing support provided by a seasoned management team.

How the Franchise Started?

El Jannah was founded in 1998 in Granville, Sydney, by Andre and Carole Estephan. Their goal was to bring authentic Lebanese-style charcoal chicken to Australian tables.

The chicken is marinated for 24 hours and slow-cooked over real charcoal. The restaurant is also famous for its signature garlic sauce, called toum, and generous portions.

In early 2020, CEO Brett Houldin joined the company. He led a new phase of growth, opening the brand’s first drive-thru in Smithfield.

Since then, El Jannah has expanded beyond New South Wales. It now has locations in Melbourne (with a Preston outlet opened in 2022), Canberra, Wollongong, and the Southern Highland.
